Translational Research in Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry
ABOUT
LAPIA is a translational research group in child and adolescent psychiatry affiliated with the Institute of Psychiatry of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IPUB/UFRJ).
The laboratory investigates biological, environmental, and developmental mechanisms involved in mental disorders throughout neurodevelopment, focusing on transdiagnostic trajectories, biomarkers, inflammation, school mental health, and emotional development in childhood and adolescence.
The group integrates clinical research, translational neuroscience, and public mental health, working to train researchers and psychiatrists specializing in child and adolescent health.

RESEARCH TEAM

Laiana Quagliato, MD,PhD
Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and coordinator of LAPIA at the Institute of Psychiatry (IPUB/UFRJ).
Her research focuses on neurodevelopmental psychiatry, inflammatory mechanisms, biomarkers, and transdiagnostic trajectories of mental disorders in childhood and adolescence.
She coordinates clinical and translational projects involving neurodevelopment, school mental health, and developmental trajectories in psychiatry.
She is a Young Scientist of Our State awardee (FAPERJ), Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry, and a member of the Young Medical Leaders Program of the National Academy of Medicine.

Vinicius Sguerri
Doctor graduated from UNAERP in 2016, with Medical Residency in Psychiatry from FAMERP (2021). Master in Public Health from the Osvaldo Cruz Foundation, in 2023. He works as a Professor of the Discipline of Psychiatry and Mental Health at UFTM and as a Psychiatrist and Preceptor at HC-UFTM since 2021. Currently in a pre-doctoral internship for PROPSAM, at LAPIA- IPUB/UFRJ".

Adriane Kazuo
Pedagogue, Pedagogical Coordinator and Educational Project Manager, specialist in Public Policies from UFRJ, postgraduate in Educational Management from Universidade Castelo Branco, Postgraduate in Clinical and Institutional Psychopedagogy from Universidade Veiga de Almeida. The object of research at (Lapia) is the effectiveness of child mental health screening in the school environment.

Adriana Goes
He has a degree in Speech Therapy from the University of Amazônia (2023), a Specialization in Music Therapy from Censupeg (2023) and a Degree in Social Communication from PUC-Rio (2005). Interested in neurodevelopmental disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, music, cognition and neuroscience

Bruna Pontes
Medical – CRM/RJ 52.0117585-8. Graduated in Medicine from Universidade Souza Marques and postgraduate in Psychiatry from Universidade Federal Fluminense – UFF. She currently works as a researcher at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Laboratory (LAPIA) at IPUB/UFRJ during the probationary period for admission to the Master's degree.

Rodolfo Teles de Melo
Theologian, psychologist and doctor, postgraduate in psychiatry from UFF-RJ.
He works as a professor of Psychiatry at the Souza Marques Faculty of Medicine, in addition to working as a Forensic Doctor at the Civil Police of the state of Rio de Janeiro. His areas of interest in child and adolescent psychiatry are neurodevelopmental and impulse control disorders.

Isabela Rosário
Currently studying Neuroscience at PUC Rio. Areas of interest are neurodevelopment, neuropharmacology, mental disorders and brain tumors

Beatriz Alves
UFRJ psychology undergraduate student. Search for research focused on neuropsychological issues.
